09.02.2010, 15:23 - Server update
Changelog 1.24d version consists of a single paragraph, which gets rid of the crash hack. With the release of this newest patch we would wish to see some more balances and bug fixes, but Blizzard has decided that no such things were needed in this update.
As you have all asked for it, the server has been switched to the newest version. So please proceed to the download links and rejoice in the newest update on the server.
How to upgrade via our server:
In order to update Warcraft through the server you need to do the following:
1. Shut your launcher down
2. Run Warcraft and go to battl.net (on the server iCCup) and wait for the game update.
3. Update your launcher and play.
Some patches from Blizzard:
1.24c to 1.24d
1.24d full patch
These are the archive files from 1.24d that are to be extracted and placed into the WarCraft folder itself without the exe file or blizzard updates. This packet will be a need for any user who is having problems with Blizzard updates.
1.24d files
Further good news for you: The server is now on DotA 6.66b, if someone has not download it yet, then you certainly need to do so.

18.12.2009, 01:09 - DotA Season 1

The end of the BETA season has arrived but we've not remained idle — we have been listening attentively to your feedback and suggestions, trying to embody all the ideas that you shared with us openly through the iCCup.com website. We are grateful for the gaming community and the interest it has show in the development of DotA as an eSport and on The Abyss iCCup. We very much appreciate the support and constructive criticism which serves to promote what we can offer and constantly improve it. Using these ideas and more DotA on The Abyss iCCup has taken massive strides.
Throughout the duration of our initial beta season the development team have been hard at work and we have reached a major milestone in the ladder — The first true season of DotA on The Abyss iCCup. The feedback has yeilded many changes, improvements and updates to the old ladder that we think you will all enjoy.
Season 1 Dates
The first season will last almost 3 months
Season 1 Begins 18-12-2009
Season 1 Ends 01-03-2010
Prize pool 1000 USD
Among the list of additions and updates you can now play under more ladder modes, have more freedom in excluding hackers or leavers, limit the rank of a game and play mods without losing points. Read on a for a comprehensive list of additions to the DotA server on The Abyss iCCup.
You can create not just 1 ladder game mode, but 5! When you play on fun modes like sd/ar you will get less points for winning in comparison to the more tactical and challenging ap/rd and of course for games with -cm mode you will receive the most number of points for recording a victory.
Want to play a closed game? No problem. Just use this command for the bot (/hostprivate /hostclose /hop) instead of the usual (/host). In which case you can change the type of game from public to private and back (/ private / priv /public /pub) not recreating.
To further improve the delay we now use two types of bots — both Russian and European. Moreover, the server will automaticly detect via ping the best variant for you, and of course, when users join the game the country of each user will be displayed in a tag (e.g. [RU] for Russian, [AU] for Australian, etc.).
If you suspect someone of cheating, when you create a game you can exclude those who do not use the Anti-Hack launcher using a simple command (/nah). In the interest of fair games it is also no longer a chore to kick people at the wrong skill level for your game. Now you can specify a point limit to join your game with just one line (/ranklimit /rl). You can easily also simply ban unwanted players (/ban ).
We also changed the system for penalising leavers, now the number of points taken away will depend not only of the number of games deserted, but the penalty will also increase the higher the rank of a user. When a player joins a game their percentage of games left is also displayed so you may disclude potential leavers.
A new set of commands for Fast Finish (-ff -surrender -finish -lose) may be used when the outcome of the game is already a foregone conclusion, and your whole team wishes to concede defeat, you do not have to wait while opponents farm or delay the finishing blow — all players may type -ff and the match if forfeited and ends. Points will be distributed exactly the same way as if you finished the game in normal mode.
For those who practice or want to play with the mod -wtf or any others without risking valuable ladder points, we added a special bot for not ladder matches. Simply create a game using the appropriate command (/chost) and have fun! This bot has also given us an opportunity to add a Tournament system, where everyone can create a competition on the iCCup website with its own randomly generated grid and virtually automatic registration and check-in on the site.
In addition to the new features we have improved all technical aspects of the server, significantly increasing the resources available, adding a server in Russia, Europe and in the near future, the United States and perhaps even China. Improvements have also been made to the structure of the host bots — now the number of hostbots available is almost infinite, which means you can start a game right away!
Prize pool of the First DotA Season— 1000 USD
Winners will get:
In general rating
1 place — 250 USD
2 place — 150 USD
3 place — 100 USD
In team rating
1 place — 250 USD
2 place — 150 USD

This week we saw the first fruits of our DotA team's labours in the launching of the Beta season for DotA on iCCup. However, as promised we remain hard at work and so can announce these new commands available for DotA fans on the iCCup server!
1. Ban players without AntiHack
A rule which requires little explanation, by typing /nah you can purge the room of all players without AntiHack activated. This command remains active (i.e. Players without AH on will be dropped from games) until you enter the /nah command again.
2. Rank Limit
Typing /ranklimit (or the shorter /rl) will admit only players with a rank equal to or above that of your own. By specifying ranks or ladder point values you can also tweak further the skill level in your game. /ranklimit D+ (or /ranklimit 2000) will restrict the game to players with at least 2000 ladder points (i.e. rank D+ or above). An upper limit to the ranks can also be achieved by altering the command to include the maximum rank allowed, such that if you want a game for players between D+ and C ranks you would type /ranklimit D+ C (or /ranklimit 2000 4000). Typing /ranklimit 0 0 will remove all rank restrictions in effect. These limits will remain in place, but note that if you reset your stats previously established rank restrictions will also be voided.
3. Banlist for Ladder games
A familiar command for some, this gives hosts the option to ban players from joining your games. The available commands are listed below:
/banlist c(heck) — Check whether the user is blocked.
/banlist b(an) — Ban a player from joining your games.
/banlist u(nban) — Remove ban restrictions on a player.
/banlist h(elp) — See more information on the use of banlist.
/b /banleaver — Ban a player.
4. Kick players from the lobby
By using the command /ban in the game lobby the player will be temporarily banned and kicked from the game, while remaining free to join any subsequent games that you host. For a more permanent solution use /banlist above.
5. Private games
Using any of the commands /hostprivate /hostclose or /hop you can host your own private game. You must specify the name of the game. You can readily switch between public or private gametypes by using the commands /private or/priv to go from public--> private and conversely you can use /public or /pub to make your game public.
Recap of New Commands
Here is a quick reference summarising the new commands available.
Command {alt.} Action
/ranklimit {/rl} Only allow players at your level or above
/rl D+ {/rl 2000} Specify a rank cutoff for players
/rl D+ C {/rl 2500 3000} Specify lower and upper rank bounds for players
/banlist c (player) Check if a player is banned or not
/banlist b (player) Add a player to your banlist
/banlist u (player) Remove a player from your banlist
/banlist h Get help on the use of banlist
/banleaver (player) Ban player
/ban (slot)
Ban player from lobby
/hostprivate {/hop} Host a private game
/public {/pub} Change your game from private to public
/private {/priv} Change your game from public to private
Thanks for your participation in DotA on iCCup and hopefully these new commands will tide you over and help improve your experience on the server until the next update!

DotA All-Stars is a game that has captivated many devout followers ever since the first incarnation was played on Battle.net, with its mixed RPG and RTS heritage the deceptively deep game has kept the WarCraft III chatrooms alive. Despite spawning a multitude of copies, DotA All-Stars remains a strong presence in the online communities and even supports its own top tier teams. Now, iCCup has taken on its own Dota All-Stars ladder as an alternative to the delay-crippled battle.net and the slot-restricted garena.
By combining the atmosphere and function of the battle.net style chatrooms and clan support with the low-latency (50-100ms as compared to 250ms) advantages DotA on iCCup can become a mainstay of the DotA community. How was this achieved? Through host bots for each game. Not only that but iCCup provides you with all the usual features inspired over the many seasons of supporting StarCraft statistics, with your win-loss record, hero information and statistics, kills, assists, and more available on demand!
All of this of course is featured on the ranking system, an iCCup DotA Ladder on which you can see how you compare with your peers in the familiar setting of iCCup. Also featured is the AntiHack, providing additional ladder points for its use and discouraging unfair play by preventing hacks. The full complement of staff will also be providing you with news, helping out with problems, and constantly improving the server and your DotA experience on The Abyss iCCup.
We are pleased to announce the DotA All-Stars Beta season, and we are looking forward to feedback from all users. To start your ganking, follow the steps below!
To play DotA on iCCup:
1. Register on iccup.com
2. Download and install the AntiHack Launcher
3. Run the iCCup Launcher .exe
4. SelectWarCraft III: The Frozen Throne and run the game
5. Select server 'The Abyss (iCCup)' from the gateways
6. Connect to battle.net and log in with your iccup.com registration info
7. gl and hf!
You must use the host bot for the game to be counted on the ladder, so please read these notes on the use of the bot. To create a game use the /host «Game Name» command and enter the game no later than 2 minutes after creation or it will disappear. The game creator should be first in the game and the latency set (default is 100, but 50 can be achieved when all players have good connections though it can always return to 100 if you encounter problems). Non-ladder games are allowed but will not contribute to your rank. See the full list of commands below.
DotA server commands:
/hostbots — Displays the number of bots online, as well as the number of available bots.
/defaultmap [EN / RU / KR] — Display / Set the version of the map.
/host — Create a game, it works only when in the channel.
/unhost — Deletes a game.
/start — Starts the game.Ddoes not work if the game has less than 10 players.
/hold — Reserves a slot for a given player, if all seats are occupied in the game it will kick a random player.
/kick — Kicks a player from a given slot.
/close — Closes the specified slot.
/open — Opens the specified slot.
/closeall — Closes all slots.
/openall — Opens all slots.
/shuffle /sp — Shuffles players.
/swap — Swap the players are in the specified slots.
/switch — Same as /swap.
/clearstats YES — Clears statistics.
/stats — Displays statistics.

Many The Abyss frequenters will be pleased to know that the The Abyss WarCraft III ladder has started a new season, commencing today. The highly anticipated WC3 section of The Abyss has been under development by a dedicated and talented team throughout its beta stages, where much feedback was received through forums, the in-game lobbies and through the The Abyss website to bring you the best ladder possible at this time.
To recap on how to get started with WarCraft III on The Abyss I suggest you read the starters guide and get acquainted with the system before logging on to The Abyss to participate in the launch of the ladder. Both Solo 1v1 games and 2v2 games are supported by the ladder system and the reputation of The Abyss combined with the response to feedback should ensure a competitive and very enjoyable WC3 gaming environment.
Several key points that were identified and tended to from the beta stages yielded the Ladder Mode and Ladder Proxy options through the use of /lm and /lp commands. These commands strive to enhance your experience while using the new ladder by restricting your game search to those players within your country or continent and also allow proxy users to play games without disconnecting. Since implementation, these commands have been refined by our staff to further ensure a seamless ladder for all your competitive WC3 needs.
There are a few features to the new ladder system that should be noted before you delve into your first game. First of all, many of you will be familiar with the MotW system in StarCraft, which grants users 130% points gain for a victory when using the AntiHack Launcher. The WarCraft III map pool is smaller than the SC one and so a MotW system was not practical, however, users will still gain a 30% increase in points gained when using the AntiHack Launcher. This promotes fairness in the games as well as rewarding those who are honest and follow the rules. As mentioned, both 1v1 and 2v2 games are supported.
The season will last for 3 months and improvements will be continued to be made throughout the season both to the ladder system and the WarCraft section of the website, so be sure to log in to the website and forums to check for updates when they are released and feel free to add your own input or suggestions in the forums.
The Abyss WarCraft III Ladder ::: Features Summary
Special thanks must go out to everyone who helped test the The Abyss server in the Beta stages, as well as all of the public who commented or left feedback in the forums to help ensure a fun and challenging experience for the rest of us. Greater thanks still must go to the The Abyss team members who have put in so much of their own time and effort into making this a reality and in particular to head developer iCCup.InGhost, whose tireless efforts in working with the WC3 server have shone through as no less than epic. His update earlier today will ensure a clean and fast response and has made the huge task seem easy.
On behalf of everyone at The Abyss, we say 'gl hf' and enjoy the new WC3 Ladder Season
